Attendance Procedures

Attendance Procedures for Reporting Absences From School

Student attendance is a school-wide goal for Astor, and great attendance promotes student academic gains. We strive to ensure that students are at school each and everyday. And, our student support team is here to support. Please reach out to the office if you need help with transportation, housing, or any other concern/barriers that is preventing regular (95% or higher) attendance.

However, we know that illnesses or family emergencies may come up. Please notify the school if your child will be absent. There are several ways to contact us:

1. Email astorattend@pps.net each morning that your child will be absent. You may also email your child's teacher, however, it is best to include the school office in your email as well. Please send your email by 8:15 a.m. or prior to the absence, if known.

2.Send a note, in advance of the absence, to the school office, (e.g. vacations, appointments, etc.). Or record it in ParentVue here.

3.Call the school office at (503) 916-6244. Mornings are very busy so the best practice is to contact us by email if this option is available to you.
Excused absences include:

  • Appointments
  • Family Emergency
  • Field Trip
  • Funeral
  • Health Exclusion
  • Hospital
  • Illness/Injury
  • Outdoor School
  • School Event
  • Vacation

Please note that if we do not receive notification of your child's excused absence, you will receive a call from the Auto-Dialer Attendance Line or from the school office.

We appreciate your assistance with our Attendance Procedures.
